Leon’s Premier League Form Guide

Category: Premier League, Soccer by: Leon

Arsenal have finally found some form after a shaky patch which saw them lose ground on the league leaders.

Wenger’s side are unbeaten in their last three games and picked up a confidence boosting win over United last weekend. Arsenal’s young guns tore Wigan apart midweek in the Carling Cup and they will be cockahoop for the visit of Villa this weekend.

Martin O’Neill’s side left the Emirates Stadium with a point last year and Arsene Wenger will be determined that the Villans leave empty handed this time round. Arsenal should be far too hot for Villa and you can’t really look beyond them picking up all three points.

Poor old West Brom are in for a terrible time at The Hawthorns. Not only are they bottom of the table but they must face a Chelsea side smarting after losing to Burnley in midweek. Big Phil will be looking for a positive and immediate response from his side. There is not a lot of value on a Chelsea win but a double with Arsenal gives you an even money return.

Houdini Harry continues his magical transformation at Tottenham and a second straight win over Liverpool will have his Spurs side eyeing another three points in the league. The short trip to Fulham should bear fruit for Redknapp and co. Fulham were lucky to roll over the Magpies last weekend while Harry’s side are improving with every outing.

Newcastle are in better shape now that Joe Kinnear has started to get a handle on things. Their form has been solid and if Michael Owen hadn’t missed a sitter against Fulham they probably would have taken something from that game. Owen will probably start against Wigan and I’d expect the Englishman to give everyone a timely reminder of his quality.

Wigan were beaten by Arsene Wenger’s youth team midweek so confidence will be low. The game is there for Newcastle to take.

Hull are only one point off a Champions League place and though they won’t be getting too ahead of themselves they will want to keep their strong start going. They were very unlucky to lose to Bolton last time out but former Tiger Jussi Jasskelainen was in outstanding form. Phil Brown’s side take on Man City and I think they will get a share of the spoils.

Mark Hughes got a vote of confidence earlier in the week but City have been pretty lackluster of late and are struggling with consistency. Hughes will probably be happy with a point from this.
