Cheltenham Review
The most impressive winner at Cheltenham over the weekend was Tatenen, who justified his trainer’s belief and confidence in him with a near faultless display in the Independent Newspapers Novice Chase. He destroyed his three opponents with a dominant display. He looks like the next Paul Nicholls’ superstar and if there is to be a banker for the Cheltenham Festival at this early stage of the season, then Tatenen looks to be it.

Hardy Bags His Seventh Grade 1 At Punchestown
There were wonderful scenes at Punchestown on Sunday when Hardy Eustace bagged his seventh career Grade 1 success when he won the Maplewood Developments Hurdle.
Sent off as a generally unfancied 14/1 shot, Dessie Hughes’ 11-year-old was having his first start of the season after missing the Lismullen Hurdle seven days earlier due to the heavy ground. Last Sunday’s race also saw Paddy Flood ride Lar Byrne’s charge for the first time in public, taking over from the retired Conor O’Dwyer.

Hughes Hoping For One More Win With Hardy

Like this time last year, Dessie Hughes has gotten off to a fine start to the National Hunt season. A total of 20 winners to date means that one of Ireland’s top trainers is on course to beat last year’s tally of 36 winners.
